The High Command of Navy celebrated its 55th birthday today in Hải Phòng City and received the Yellow Star Medal, the most honorable award given by the Vietnamese State, for the second time.

The event was attended by Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyễn Phú Trọng and many high-ranking military officials.

Addressing the event, Chairman Trọng applauded the achievements and glorious victories gained by many generations of officials, soldiers, and servicemen of the Vietnamese People’s Navy during past 55 years.

He said the force plays a core role in protecting the country’s sovereignty over seas and island regions. It has helped the country in maintaining the national security and quickly fighting back any sovereignty violence.

However, Vietnamese navy still needs to focus on sharpening the awareness of its functions and roles, building a strong and well-trained force, and tightening the traditional friendship with people.
