National Tourism Year 2018 to be held in Quang Ninh

Under the theme ‘Ha Long – Heritage, Wonder – Friendly Destination’, the programme will feature a number of main activities, including the opening and closing ceremonies of the National Year, a cuisine festival, a paragliding competition, a photo contest and a ceremony to announce and present a certificate recognising Cua Ong temple as a national relic site, the program will include 100 events that will take place thoughout 2018.

Quang Ninh province will host the opening and closing ceremony, Carnaval Sun Ha Long 2018, the opening ceremony of ASEAN Tourism Forum 2019, and Ha Long Golf FLC tournament 2019. 

The province has established a provincial organizing committee and urged the VNAT to closely cooperate and promote the program.

Quang Ninh attracted more than 8.6 million tourists in the first ten months of 2017, including nearly 3.4 million foreigners, year-on-year jumps of 18 percent and 21%, respectively.

By 2020, Quang Ninh aims to welcome 15-16 million tourists, including seven million foreigners, and rake in VND30-VND40 trillion (US$1.3-US$1.7 billion) in revenue. The tourism sector is expected to contribute 14%-15% to the gross regional domestic product (GRDP).
