National Tourism Year 2016: “Discovering the Southern Land”

VGP – The National Tourism Year 2016 – Phu Quoc – Mekong Delta under the motto “Discovering the Southern Land" will be hosted by southern Kien Giang province.

The State-scale activities will be held mainly in Kien Giang. In addition, other activities will take place in Ha Noi, Thua Thien-Hue, Da Nang, HCMC, Can Tho, Long An, Dong Thap, An Giang, Ca Mau, Bac Lieu, Soc Trang, Vinh Long, Tra Vinh, Tien Giang, Hau Giang and Ben Tre.

The upcoming event targets to raise awareness of tourism development and island and sea resource protection; develop sea and island tourism products.

The National Tourism Year also looks to advertise tangible and intangible cultural values and special tourism products in Kien Giang and local participants.

Kien Giang province also has ambitious plans to raise the number of hotels and hostels to 375 with 8,575 rooms by the end of this year to meet the increasing demand of tourists.

In 2016, the province plans to organize an array of events including a Mekong River Delta gastronomy festival, a national boat race, a traditional musical instrument festival, the 10th Khmer culture, sports and tourism day and Nghinh Ong festival./.
