The Committee will be headed by PM Phuc who will be assisted by Deputy PM Vu Duc Dam as Vice Chairman and Minister-Chairman of the Government Office Mai Tien Dung as Secretary General.

The move aims to accelerate e-Government development, which is expected to contribute to pushing back corruption and wrongdoings.

Pointing out the fact that some ministries and agencies have belittled or warded off e-Government development, the Government chief called on each and every Cabinet member and locality to join hands.

He stressed the importance of innovative approaches with core solutions to improve the effectiveness of e-Government development.

E-Government development must be closely linked with administration reform and information and technology application in all levels and sectors, said PM Phuc.

He emphasized the need to improve legal framework on e-Government development. The Ministry of Information and Communications was assigned to mull over a Decree on protection of private data and another Decree on data sharing.

PM Phuc tasked the Government Office to submit to him a plan on data connection and sharing among administrative agencies in November this year.

The Government Office was assigned to coordinate with the World Bank to seek proper resources, especially technical assistance for e-Government development and report to the Government and the PM for consideration.

The PM also asked VNPT, Viettel and  FPT corporations to dispatch experts to help the Government Office in e-Government development .

Viet Nam ranked 83th out of 193 countries and territories on the e-Government development index (EGDI) in 2016, up ten places from 2014, according to a survey by the United Nations./.
