NA Standing Committee wraps up its 45th session

VNGOVNet – On December 15, the National Assembly Standing Committee ended its 45th session with the making of some important decisions.

December 16, 2006 11:03 AM GMT+7

The majority of the NA Standing Committee members agreed on the issuance of an Ordinance to promote democracy at grassroots level to make the operation of State agencies at this level more open and transparent and make it easier for the people to supervise them.

In the last working day, the NA Standing Committee also approved a motion to allow the State Audit Office to enjoy 2% of the money paid into the Treasury from cases of financial violations it discovered in 2006.

The Office is allowed spend this awarded amount on its physical infrastructure facilities and rewards to auditors. However, it must set up its plan to spend this sum based on the sector's cost norms, the general treatment also applied to other sectors, and the special characteristics of the work.

The award is seen a practical support to the agency in charge of budgeting control, encouraging  it to act better on its job of urging sectors to make due contributions to the budget and discovering misappropriation of State budget funding by State agencies. The awarded money is also expected to help improve auditors' sense of responsibility towards their assignments.
