NA Standing Committee discusses IPU-132 organization

VGP – The National Assembly (NA) Standing Committee on January 21 gave comments on the preparations for the132nd General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU-132), which will be held from March 28-April 1, 2015.

The IPU-132, themed “The Sustainable Development Goals: Turning words into action”, shows the strong commitments of the parliamentary community in the world, including the Vietnamese NA, to sustainable development goals which are being discussed and will be officially approved by the United Nations in 2015.

The Ha Noi Declaration, expected to be ratified at the IPU, will be used as an official document to table to the Summit of top officials of legislative agencies in August 2015 and the United Nations in September 2015.

In addition, a Meeting of Women Parliamentarians, a Forum of Young Parliamentarians and a Meeting of the Association of Secretaries General of Parliaments (ASGP) will also be held.

NA Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung proposed related agencies complete the preparatory works to guarantee the success of the IPU-132, the largest-scale diplomatic event in 2015.

He asked organizing agencies to advertise the image of the Vietnamese nation and people, asserting Viet Nam’s viewpoint to befriend with other nations in the world for peace and development.
