NA Chairwoman grants interview on APPF-26

VGP - The 26th Annual Meeting of the Asia-Pacific Parliamentary Forum (APPF-26) creates an opportunity to strengthen the bilateral diplomatic relations between the Vietnamese National Assembly (NA) and other nations’ parliaments as well as convey the image of the dynamic, active and responsible NA to the world.

The APPF-26 will be officially opened  on January 18 in Ha Noi. Anticipating the occasion, NA Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan granted an interview on the meaning of the crucial diplomatic event which starts the NA’s diplomatic activities in 2018. 

She affirmed that the host of the APPF-26 has manifested the increasing role and prestige of the Vietnamese NA in the international and regional parliamentary diplomatic activities. 

The event is also the successive step of the 132nd Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU-132) in March 2015, showing the active implementation of the Party’s guidelines.  

The NA Chairwoman expected that the event will create a force to promoting the roles of parliaments within APEC cooperation and uphold outcomes of the APEC Economic Leaders' Week. 

The Vietnamese NA proposes approving Ha Noi Declaration to identify key orientations in the development process of the APPF, which is regarded as the close connection between APPF and APEC for supporting APEC and its member economies in realizing commitments in Da Nang Declaration. 

Viet Nam’s initiatives have been highly praised, confirming the nation’s assertiveness and intellectuality in the period of extensive international integration, she said, hoping that the prestige and image of the nation will be upgraded thanks to organization of the large-scale event. 

As the Chairwoman of the Vietnamese NA and the chair of the APPF-26, Ms. Ngan welcomes all parliamentary delegates from the Asia-Pacific to Ha Noi. 

The organization of the event and other Party and State’s diplomatic activities have manifested the message of peaceful, sustainable and developing Viet Nam as well as the nation’s concerns about the development of the world and commitments to cooperating the international community to realize joint tasks for sustainable development, she affirmed. 

The Vietnamese NA is interested in the joint development of the inter-parliamentary diplomacy and participate in the development orientations of the international and regional inter-parliamentary forums in the new context, and hopes to improve the status and role of the APPF to become a partner of APEC and enhances cooperation in the Asia-Pacific in fields of politics-security and economics-trade.
