NA Chairman meets with Chinese Party chief

Warmly welcoming the Vietnamese top legislator, Chinese President Xi expressed his belief that the visit would contribute to promoting the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between Viet Nam and China.

NA Chairman Hung spoke highly of the significance of the Chinese Party leader’s State visit to Viet Nam in November, which he said has contributed to consolidating the bilateral friendship and cooperation.

He emphasized that the Vietnamese Party, State and people attach importance to the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership with China based on the consistent foreign policy of peace, independence and self-reliance. “This is the strategic choice of the Vietnamese Party, State and people,” NA Chairman Hung said.

The top legislator suggested the two nations boost the implementation of the common perceptions and agreements reached by their senior leaders, accelerate cooperative in various fields; ensure balanced interests and mutual benefits.

He also said amidst complicated developments in the region and the world, mutual support at international forums and mechanisms is of significant importance to the revolutionary cause in each country. 

Regarding maritime issues, NA Chairman Hung stressed on the agreement reached by Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and Party General Secretary and President Xi Jinping on strengthening political trust through the settlement of issues of different perceptions under the spirit of mutual understanding, friendship and straightforwardness. 

Mr. Hung also confirmed Viet Nam’s stance to work together with China to increase mutual understanding, maintain dialogue, and seek basic and long-term solutions acceptable to both sides.

During the settlement process, both sides should well control the situation, maintain stability and actively boost maritime cooperation, he added.

According to the Vietnamese leader, the sea issue should be resolved with a long-term strategic vision in line with international law and with full respect for each country’s legitimate interests and the Viet Nam-China relations in general. Settlement of the issue well will help strengthen political trust and facilitate the development of the bilateral comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership, he said.

For his part, the Chinese Party chief affirmed that the Party and State of China always treasure and back strengthened exchanges between the Vietnamese National Assembly and the Chinese National People's Congress as well as friendship exchanges between the two countries’ people.

President Xi also suggested that the two sides maintain delegation exchanges, information and experience sharing, and mutual coordination and support at regional and international inter-parliamentary forums.

He expressed his belief that the upcoming 12th National Party Congress of Viet Nam will be a success and the neighboring country will achieve greater achievements in national construction and development process.

The two leaders agreed to step up high-level meetings and visits, promote communications on the bilateral traditional friendship, and beef up people-to-people exchanges in order to improve public awareness and create a high consensus in society on the development of the bilateral relations, for the interests of each country, and for peace and development in the region and the world. /.
