More than US$3 bln in FDI disbursed in Q1

VGP – Viet Nam disbursed US$3.05 billion in Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in the first quarter of 2015, a year-on-year increase of 7%, according to the Foreign Investment agency, under the Ministry of Planning and Investment.

The total newly-registered and additional FDI reached US$1.8 billion, equal to 55.1% of that of the same period last year.

The processing and manufacturing industry led in attracting FDI with US$1.4 billion in 115 projects, accounting for 76.6%.

It was followed by the real estate and retail sales with US$202.93 million and US$123.36 million, respectively.

The Republic of Korea is the largest investor in Viet Nam, with a total registered and additional capital of US$491.05 million, making up 26.7%.

British Virgin Islands and Japan occupied the second and third places with US$351.59 million and US$294.36 million, accounting for 19.1% and 16%, respectively.
