The first batch of Pfizer/BioNtech vaccine arrives in Viet Nam, Ha Noi, July 7, 2021 |
This is the first part of a contract for 31 million vaccine doses signed between the Ministry of Health and Pfizer last May.
The vaccine will be kept at cold storages at the National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology before being allocated to localities hit hardest by the current fourth COVID-19 wave.
Addressing the handover ceremony, Deputy Minister of Health Truong Quoc Cuong thanked Pfizer for providing training and guidance on storage and use of its vaccine.
Truong hoped that Pfizer would ensure delivery schedule of the 31 million doses in 2021 and consider supply of another 20 million doses and possible transfer of production technology to Viet Nam.
This is the third vaccine shipped to Viet Nam, after the AstraZeneca and Sinopharm vaccines./.
