The passengers, including seniors and tourists with expired visas, were medically checked and quarantined immediately upon arrival.

The flight is part of the coordinated efforts by the ministry and relevant agencies to implement the Government’s order on repatriation of citizens stranded abroad due to COVID-19 pandemic.

This is the 15th flight arranged since April 24, with about 4,340 passengers from foreign countries and territories, official data showed.

As of 6am on June 1, Viet Nam confirmed 328 COVID-19 patients, including 188 imported cases, said the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control.

As many as 279 patients have been cleared of the virus, accounting for 85% while the current active cases are beeing treated at eight central and provincial-level hospitals nationwide.

Nearly 7,256 people who have been in close contact with COVID-19 patients or repatriated from the pandemic-stricken areas are under medical surveillance, the committee added./.
