The passengers, including children, pregnant woman and students whose dormitories shut down amid the COVID-19 pandemic, were sent to centralized quarantine facilities as currently regulated.

This is the 18th flight jointly arranged by relevant ministries, agencies and airlines since April 24, bringing home about 5,361 Vietnamese citizens stranded abroad due to the pandemic.

As Viet Nam has successfully contained the pandemic, paving the way for the country to have restarted the economy, including allowing Vietnamese citizens, foreign experts and business managers to return to the nation.

In a bid sto staunch the spread of the virus to communities, the Ministry of Health dispatched teams to inspect quarantine work for foreign experts in Ba Ria-Vung Tau, Quang Ngai, Bac Ninh and Thai Nguyen as well as designated hotels for airline crews in Ha Noi, said Deputy Minister of Health Nguyen Thanh Long.

Long added the ministry will continue inspection in other provinces and cities with a view to make sure that quarantine regulations for foreign experts are implemented properly.

As of 3pm on Friday, Viet Nam had 328 COVID-19 patients, including 188 imported cases, said the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control.

Of the total, 307 patients have been cleared of the virus, accounting for 94%, the committee added./.
