The Government chief also entrusted the MPI to draft a list of prioritized projects using ODA capital from the Republic of Korea (RoK).

Việt Nam is now one of ODA receivers prioritized by the RoK. The total ODA from the RoK for Việt Nam was US $471.4 million in 1993-2008. In early August 2008, the RoK signed with Việt Nam a framework agreement on Korea’s offer of US $1 billion as preferential capital for Việt Nam in the period of 2008-2011. With this, the RoK became the 2nd biggest bilateral donor of Việt Nam (after Japan).

GIDC is an important project of which the memorandum of understanding was signed in the witness of Vietnamese PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng and RoK PM Han Seung Soo on May 29, 2009 in Seoul.

As planned, the GIDC will be built in the period of 2009-2012 as a multifunctional complex to meet medium-term demands for data.

The Center functions as a national-level master store of data and information of the Government.

The project marks the development of e-government in Việt Nam, facilitating the Government’s performance in the era of ICT boom and international integration.

The launching ceremony of the GIDC was held on August 7, 2009. A feasible study is being finalized for the project which is scheduled to come into operation in 2012.
