Minister: VN to become an IT power
VGP – At the online talk on information technology (IT) development strategy this morning, Minister of Information and Communications Lê Doãn Hợp underlined that, on the basis of its actual development of telecommunication and IT over the past years, Việt Nam will surely become a powerful IT country.

In early August, the Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC) ratified a plan on converting Việt Nam into an IT power, said Minister Lê Doãn Hợp.
The plan defines four major ICT pillars, namely ICT infrastructure, IT application, IT industry, and ICT human resources.
It also points out six specific targets of building telecommunication infrastructure; introducing audio-visual devices, computers and Internet to households; developing IT industry; training IT labor force; founding ICT corporations; and expanding international cooperation in this field.
In the period of 2015-2020, Việt Nam must be one of 70 world leading ICT countries, stated Minister Hợp.
He said that Việt Nam will develop public broad-band infrastructure; speeding up IT application in State agencies; doing outwork for multinational groups, especially in new technologies; prioritizing the development of software products and made-in-Việt Nam digital contents; nurturing a highly-qualified contingent of 100,000 hardware experts and 30,000 software ones.
The plan is expected to help telecommunication and IT enterprises integrate into the world market, advertise their trademark, establish Vietnamese ICT giants, found IT stimulus funds, and complete legal framework in favor of IT enteprises.
The MIC is drafting a number of policies on tax and concentrated industrial parks for software companies, revealed Minister Hợp.
