Meeting on implementation of Ordinance on prostitution prevention held

Deputy PM Vu Duc Dam, Chairman of the National Committee for AIDS, Drugs and Prostitution Prevention and Control made that statement at a meeting to review the ten-year implementation of the Ordinance on prostitution prevention and control on December 19.  

Viet Nam does not legalize prostitution, asserted Deputy PM Vu Duc Dam, adding that prostitution prevention an control are not only the tasks of any agencies, ministries and agencies but also the joint mission of the whole society and political system.

Deputy PM Dam revealed that the Law on prostitution prevention and control needs to be established.

According to the report of the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, in the phase from 2003-2014, the prostitution prevention work was integrated with other social security programs such as poverty reduction, vocational training for laborers and preferential loans.

Since 2012, a number of measures have been launched effectively to help prostitutes integrate into the community, including the provision of vocational training courses for 1,822 ones and the creation of jobs for 1,212 ones.
