Measles spread must be put under control: PM

The Government chief made the request on April 23 in Ha Noi in the wake of the infectious diseas developing in a complicated manner.
He asked the Ministry of Health and localities especially Ha Noi to keep a close watch on the disease developments and provide emergency treatment to measles patients in order to minimize fatalities; prepare for adequate expenditures, medicines, and equipment to quickly end the outbreak as soon as possible.
The Government leader also noted the importance of information work to raise public awareness of vaccination and infectious factors.
Minister of Health Nguyen Thi Kim Tien reported that so far 61 out of the country's 63 provinces and localities recorded measles cases.
Earlier, PM Nguyen Tan Dung on April 16 sent an urgent notice asking ministries, agencies and localities to take tough measures to combat the spread of measles and minimize fatalities./.
