Master plan for Tuyên Quang’s development approved

VGP – According to its newly-ratified master planning scheme for the socio-economic development towards 2020, northern Tuyên Quang Province will comprehensively develop at a high and sustainable growth rate. Its economy is also vigorously restructured towards industrialization and modernization, so that the province will be a middle-level locality by 2020.

The province’s GDP and food productivity per capita will reach over VND 30 million and 400 kg respectively by 2020. It is striving for an industry-construction structure of 46%, and the number of poor households 10%.

Tuyên Quang will pay attention to the development of three major areas: (1) The northern mountainous region which grows rapidly in order to boost poverty reduction and narrow the gap among different regions within the province in terms of living conditions and social progress; (2) The central region with Tuyên Quang Town as the drive for the entire province’s socio-economic development; and (3) The southern region with great potential for mining, agriculture and tourism.

In the period of 2010-2020, Tuyên Quang will mobilize its human resource for hi-tech industries and the production of consumer goods and exporters (paper, furniture, steel). Foreign trade is also promoted to earn US $100 million in export turnover by 2020.

Tourism is another important economic sector, with  three aspects: cultural and historical tourism, convalescence tourism and eco-tourism. By 2020, the province expects to attract over 1.5 million tourists, earn VND 2,000 billion and generate 21,000 jobs.
