“Make in Viet Nam” optimizes internal strength

VGP – The national forum on technology business development was launched on May 9 in Ha Noi under the slogan “Make in Viet Nam.”

Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Manh Hung stressed that assembly could not resolve labor productivity problem in Viet Nam. 

Solutions to labor productivity

According to Minister Hung, higher labor productivity, fast and sustainable growth, escaping from medium-income gap are remaining problems for Viet Nam. Technology is the answer to these problems. The development of the fourth Industrial Revolution has brought back opportunities for Viet Nam. 

Minister Hung gave an example that companies could not produce and advertize their products in an effective way without technology. Technology companies play an important role for growth in Viet Nam. Hence, technology development must top the priority. 

In 2019, Viet Nam will digitalize the economy, creating a foundation for innovation and startups in technology. 

Minister Hung added that Viet Nam needs technology startups which use technology to develop solutions then create the revolution nationwide. 

Hence, Minister Hung hoped that the forum would propose solutions to technology businesses; set higher technology standards which not only encourage but also force technology enterprises to renovate technology. 

Open mechanisms for technology enterprises

As the attractive destination of large-scale technology enterprises, Chairman of the  Ha Noi municipal People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung revealed that Ha Noi has conducted a series of programs to boost IT applications. 

Especially, the city has focused on building connectivity among agencies and applying digital services with a view to saving time; cutting costs; and raising efficiency with citizens and enterprises. Ha Noi is targeting to bring digital services to everybody everywhere. 

Over the past three years, the building of e-Government has attained positive outcomes. Information of over 9 million people has been added to the population database. 

Ha Noi houses 3,530 IT enterprises which earned VND 244,266 billion in 2018. 

The city is building a database that enables enterprises to investment in infrastructure and to generate a technology ecosystem.  

Chairman Chung also pledged that the city would reform and offer flexible mechanisms for enterprises including technology enterprises. He also took the occasion to seek Government’s support for the locality to pilot investment mechanisms in IT and construction of criteria on databases. 

Using technology to escape from medium-income gap

Dr. Yongrak Choi, a member of the Consulting Board of RoK’s President proposed that Viet Nam utilize technology to escape from the medium-income gap. 

According to Mr. Choi, the Korean Government put forth a series of policies on infrastructure development, R&D investment, manpower development./.
