Made-in-VN COVID-19 test kit meets WHO standards

The kit has met all WHO standards after undergoing five rounds of testing and quality evaluation.
Earlier, the kit has been certified as meeting European standards by the United Kingdom, whilst obtaining a Certificate of Free Sale (CFS) in Europe.
By obtaining a CFS, this SARS-CoV-2 test kit can be sold freely in all member countries of the European Economic Area (EEA), including the UK.
A kit consists of 50 tests and can be used 50 times, meeting all criteria on virus sensitivity, specificity and accuracy. The full timescale for the test kit to produce the result, either negative or positive for SARS-CoV-2, is more than 2 hours.
More than 20 countries such as Iran, Ukraine, Finland and Malaysia and enterprises have ordered the made-in-Viet Nam COVID-19 test kits.
The WHO recognition is expected to further boost the export of the made-in-Viet Nam kits to the global market.
The kit is priced at VND400,000-600,000 (US$17-26) per test, and the producers said they are capable of manufacturing 200 test kits, equal to 10,000 tests a day.
As of early April 26, Viet Nam has confirmed 270 covid-19 infection cases, of whom 225 have recovered and exited hospitals.
No death from the disease has been recorded in the country.
