The MIC was entrusted to license the pilot realization of wireless wide-band access service WiMAX for one year, then review and assess this work in conformity with Việt Nam’s regulations and actualities.

The Ministry would extend the licenses or issue new ones to enterprises and organizations which want to exploit fixed WiMAX service at the bands of 3.3–3.4 GHz. Licenses to pilot mobile WiMAX service would be granted to EVN Telecom, Viettel, FPT and VTC at the bands of 2.3-2.4 GHz; and to VNPT at the bands of 2.5-2.69 GHz.
