Asselborn highly valued Viet Nam’s socio-economic development and international integration achievements over the past years.

Meanwhile, Deputy PM, FM Minh extended thanks to Luxembourg for its strong commitments to development cooperation programs in Viet Nam, welcoming the European country’s establishment of honorary consular offices in Ha Noi and Ho Chi Minh City.

The pair briefed each other about recent developments in respective countries, discussing ways to further strengthen the bilateral ties as well as regional and international issues of common concern.

They deliberated on the deployment of the two countries’ framework cooperation agreement signed in November last years and Luxembourg’s financial assistance for climate change related projects in Viet Nam.

Deputy PM, FM Minh suggested the two sides soon organize the 10th meeting of the partnership committee in Luxembourg in 2018 to review the implementation of programs/projects financed by Luxemburg between 2016 and 2020.

He also called on Luxembourger investors to diversify investment fields, including construction and processing industries, urging Luxembourg to facilitate Vietnamese exports to Luxembourg and the EU.

The two FMs vowed to continue close coordination between the two foreign ministries at regional and international forums. Luxembourg pledges to support Viet Nam to enhance ties with the EU through accelerating ratification of the Viet Nam-EU free trade agreement (EVFTA)

The Luxembourger FM side shares Viet Nam’s position on the East Sea, saying maritime freedom must be respected everywhere and disputes must be addressed via peaceful measures in accordance with international law.

The Luxembourger side stressed that it is common interests of all regional countries and the international community to ensure security and safety of navigation and aviation./.
