What are the inspiration and ideas behind design of APEC 2017 logo?

- Showcase APEC's spirit of cooperation: 21 sunrays symbolize 21 APEC economies. Three colors: blue, red and yellow represent APEC's 3 pillars of cooperation: investment and trade liberalization, business facilitation and technical economic cooperation. The circular motion is evocative of a rotating turbine representing APEC's dynamism.

- Showcase the essence of Viet Nam's culture: The patterns of Lac birds in flight, a symbol of Dong Son bronze drums, depict the quintessence of the traditional Vietnamese culture perpetually tracing back to its genesis. 

- Showcase innovation: through the use of unique patterns usually seen on Dong Son bronze drums. Images of the Lac bird, a traditional symbol of Viet Nam, will for the first time be illustrated through 21 modern, stylized strong and simple strokes.
