In 2019, litchi output was estimated at about 80,000 tons but still churned out high revenue.

Specifically, last year, litchi production hit 230,000 tons, bringing a total turnover of VND 5.9 trillion (US$ 253 million). However, in 2019, total litchi output reached over 147,000 tons but valued VND 6.5 trillion (US$ 279 million).

Litchi prices were maintained at high levels at about VND 30,000 to VND 60,000.

Experts attributed the better results to higher product quality, organic cultivation, application of VietGAP and GlobalGAP standards. Over 50% of litchi was shipped abroad, churning out higher values for producers.

Bac Giang’s litchis were chiefly exported to China, the Middle East, Russia, the U.S., Canada, Japan, the RoK, Singapore, Thailand, and Australia./.
