Dr. Nguyen Duc Kien

Kien will replace Dr. Vu Viet Ngoan to lead the team which was established in 2017 with a mission of advising the Prime Minister on mid-term and long-term economic development strategies, plans, projects and policies.

The team will evaluate the implementation of the aforesaid documents in order to suggest revisions to mechanisms and policies.

It will also suggest measures to timely cope with domestic and international economic developments and offer independent comments on the PM’s major economic projects before submitting to the Politburo, National Assembly.

The team is allowed to cooperate with local and foreign experts and contributors and invited to attend related meetings of the Government and the Prime Minister

The decision to form the economic advisory group reflects the Government’s determination to work towards professional governance.

A part from the advisory group, Phuc also established two taskforces to speed up implementation of his priorities since he became Prime Minister in 2016, namely (i) Taskforce in charge of monitoring and accelerating the implementation of tasks assigned to ministries, agencies and localities led by Minister-Chairman of the Government Office Mai Tien Dung; and (ii) Taskforce responsible for inspecting performance of public duties headed by Minister of Home Affairs Le Vinh Tan./.
