Leaders pay tribute to President Ho Chi Minh

VGP – A delegation of high-ranking leaders on February 6 laid a wreath to pay tribute to President Ho Chi Minh at his mausoleum on the occasion of the 83rd founding anniversary of the Communist Party of Viet Nam and Lunar New Year.

The dignitaries include Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, State President Truong Tan Sang, PM Nguyen Tan Dung, NA Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung, former NA Chairman Nguyen Van An and VFF President Huynh Dam.

The high-ranking delegation also offered incenses at the War Martyr Memorial to commemorate eminent sons who sacrified their lives for national liberation, freedom and people’s happiness.

On the same day, Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong met with members of the Politburo and the Secretariat of the Party Central Committee, leaders and former leaders of the Party, State and Viet Nam Fatherland Front as well as veteran revolutionaries to wish them a happy new year.

The Party leader stressed that the achievements of last year were the results of concerted efforts of the entire nation, which manifested the strength of the national unity bloc and created favourable conditions for the country to strive for yet greater success in 2013.

He called on the entire Party, army and people to have firm faith and work with unanimity and determination, to bring the country out of difficulties, overcome challenges to continue with firm development steps.

In Ho Chi Minh City , a delegation of the municipal authorities and Fatherland Front also paid tribute to President Ho Chi Minh, President Ton Duc Thang and fallen soldiers on the occasion of the lunar new year.

The same day, the delegation attended a ceremony to offer “Banh Tet”, the traditional New Year food of the southern region, to the nation’s legendary founder – the Hung kings, in line with the Vietnamese tradition of worshipping ancestors.
