Leaders commemorate Dien Bien Phu heroes

VGP - Party chief Nguyen Phu Trong on May 7 led a high-ranking delegation to offer incense to heroes and martyrs at the martyrs' cemetery on hill A1 on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory.

The event also drew the attendance of former Party General Secretaries Le Kha Phieu and Nong Duc Manh; State President Truong Tan Sang, former State President Tran Duc Luong and others.

They laid a wreath bearing the words “Eternal gratitude to the heroic martyrs" at the memorial of the martyrs' cemetery.

At the solemn atmosphere, delegates expressed their respect for elite children of the country who sacrified their lives for the national independence and freedom as well as happiness of people.

They vowed to uphold the Vietnamese tradition of “Drinking water, remember its source” and make contribution to national prosperity.

Right after the memorial event, the delegation attended the celebration of the 60th anniversary of Dien Bien Phu Victory./.
