Laos’ National Day observed

VGP- The Ho Chi Minh City Union of Friendship Organisation (HUFO) has held a ceremony to mark the 43rd anniversary of Laos’ National Day (December 2).

The Ho Chi Minh City Union of Friendship Organizations (HUFO) in conjunction with the Ho Chi Minh City Viet Nam–Laos Friendship Association held the event.

In her remarks, Lao Consul General to HCM City Somxay Sanamoune affirmed under the guidance of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, the country gained great achievements in building and protecting the country over the past 43 years.

He also highlighted the traditional friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation in various fields between the two nations.

Vice President of the Viet Nam-Laos Friendship Association’s HCM City chapter Nguyen Thi My Tien highlighted the close-knit relations between the two countries during the past struggle for national independence as well as the present national construction and protection. 

The traditional friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation have been an invaluable asset shared by the two nations, she said. 

Tien congratulated the Lao people on achievements they have recorded over the past time under the leadership of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party and affirmed that Viet Nam and HCM City in particular will work together with Laos to cultivate the relationship. 

Viet Nam has a total capital investment of more than US$4.1 billion in Laos, ranking third among countries and territories investing in this country. Viet Nam-Lao bilateral trade turnover reached US$758 million in the first 9 months of this year.
