Lao’s National Day celebrated in VN

VGP - Top officials of Ho Chi Minh City met Lao Consul General Southideth Phommalat in the city on November 27 on the occasion of the 39th anniversary of Lao National Day (December 2, 1975 – December 2, 2014).

Speaking at the event, Permanent Vice Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Vo Van Thuong underscored the point that Viet Nam and Lao are close neighbors and have a long standing traditional friendship.

He has hopes that the two countries would continue to work hard to further promote the special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation in the coming time, he said.

The Lao Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City Southideth Phommalat noted with satisfaction that the bilateral ties have been growing across diverse areas, ranging from politics, socio-economics, science-technology, national defence-security to diplomacy.

The same day, the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organisations partnered with the municipal chapter of the Viet Nam – Laos Friendship Association to host a ceremony celebrating the anniversary.

Vietnamese and Lao delegates pledged to strengthen the coordination between Ho Chi Minh City and Lao localities in the coming time.

Now, Viet Nam stands 2nd out of 53 countries investing in Laos, with 413 projects totaling $5 billion.
