Lang Son province urged to develop high-tech agriculture

The Government leader highlighted Lang Son’s crucial position in terms of economics, society, defence and security, especially to the Northeastern region of the country, as it shares a 230km borderline with China, while possessing many border gates and border markets.

The province is the first point of Viet Nam in the Nanning (China)-Lang Son-Ha Noi- Hai Phong and Lang Son-Ha Noi-Ho Chi Minh City-Moc Bai economic corridors, functioning as an important gateway in Viet Nam’s connection with China and ASEAN, thus enjoying multiple advantages for the development of border trade and services.

Applauding Lang Son’s efforts to ensure stable socio-economic development and social order and safety over the past few years, PM Phuc suggested that the province’s development vision should be associated with the development of trade, tourism and agro-forestry in mountainous, upland and rural areas.

Lang Son needs to preserve local cultural identities, while designing better and more sustainable poverty reduction programs and focusing on healthcare and education work, especially in remote and needy localities, he stated.

As reported by the provincial leaders, Lang Son’s annual average economic growth rate hit over 8%, with its average gross regional domestic product (GRDP) per capita reaching VND35.6 million (US$1,530) in 2017.

In its seven priority economic areas over the past years, Lang Son has focused immediately on developing the border economy into a motivation to boost the local economic growth and economic structure shifts. Last year, the province’s total import-export revenues reached US$5.25 billion, posting a trade surplus of US$670 million.
