Lang Son investment promotion conference opens

VGP – The Government, ministries, and sectors are determined to supporting Lang Son and border provinces to boost economic growth, said PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc.

The Government leader made the point on September 30 in Lang Son at the Lang Son investment promotion conference. 

“Hot spot” in Vietnamese tourism map

The PM pointed out five big changes in Lang Son province namely (1) strong, evenly, and comprehensive socio-economic development, improved people’s living standards; (2) the operation of the 64-km Bac Giang-Lang Son Express; (3) over 200-km border line with Guangxi province of China; (4) improved investment environment; and (5) and changing face of Lang Son city. 

The PM also stressed local advantages including border economy and tourism. 

Lang Son province locates in the first point of the Nanning economic corridor-Lang Son-Ha Noi-Hai Phong and serves as a gateway for not only Viet Nam but also ASEAN to connect with Guangxi province and the Southern region of China in the China–ASEAN Free Trade Area (CAFTA). Total trade turnover across Lang Son border gates valued over US$ 5 billion, nearly 3.8 times of the local economy. 

Regarding tourism advantage, the PM pointed out tourism potentials of Mau Son mountain, cultural festivals, gastronomy, as well as special agricultural products.  

Building border economic corridors  

The PM suggested Lang Son province propose mechanisms which enable the border province to be connected to create an economic corridor across the border. 

The locality should mobilize resources including budget, investment capital, policy, and manpower to develop three economic pillars namely border economy, sustainable tourism, and smart agriculture, export processing industry. 

Border economic zones were asked to build trade infrastructure and logistics in order to serve for goods circulation of localities. 

PM praised the signing of a memorandum of understanding on e-Government between Lang Son province and the Ministry of Industry and Communication.

On this occasion, investors signed investment contracts and memorandums of understanding worth over VND 105 trillion./.
