March 28, 2019 11:28 AM GMT+7

Lang Son is located at Viet Nam's Northeast gate. It is the first point of National Highway 1A, an arterial road connecting Viet Nam with China, and also an important road connecting China with other ASEAN countries.

With a geographical position which is favorable for economic development and important in terms of security-defence, Lang Son province has become an important focal point in economic and socio-cultural exchanges and international economic cooperation. Lang Son city is the capital of Lang Son province, and was recognized as a third-class city under Lang Son province in 2000.

Since the recognition, Lang Son city’s Party Committee, authorities and people have actively exploited the locale’s potential and advantages, and optimally mobilized resources for socio-economic development, thereby positively changing the urban face and improving the people’s lives.

The city’s tourism-service, industry-construction and urbanization areas have recorded significant development, especially the growth of industries, handicrafts and commercial services. Within three years (2015-2017), the growth rate of Lang Son city reached 8.82%. In 2017, the city’s annual income per capital reached VND78.12 million, 1.46 times higher than the average level of the whole country.
