The prices of food and catering services in the capital city is estimated to rise the most by 1.18% while prices of six other groups of goods increase less than 0.1%.

CPI of Hồ Chí Minh City in July is estimated to decrease 0.09% against June. The city’s CPI in the first seven months of this year goes up 4.78%.

Such decrease is attributable to the falling prices of construction materials, food and petroleum products.

The prices of food have gone down since March though posting a monthly average rise of 0.8% during the first seven months. Meanwhile, the prices of foodstuff since January have increased approximately 1.02% a month, according to the Hồ Chi Minh City Statistics Office.

Unusual changes of weather conditions, diseases in plants and animals, and increasing input costs contribute to such hikes in the prices of foodstuff, the Office said.
