Japanese loan extended for Ô Môn Thermoelectricity Plant

VNGOVNet – Considering the proposal of the Ministry of Planning and Investment, the PM agreed on January 17 to extend the Japanese Government preferential loan (coded VNVIII-2) for the Ô Môn Thermoelectricity Plant and a transmission line to February 28, 2011.

January 18, 2007 11:05 AM GMT+7

The Ministry of Finance was assigned to fulfill necessary procedures for the extension. The Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN) was reminded to draw experience in realizing projects on schedule.

The Ô Môn Thermoelectricity Plant is the first project to be carried out in the Ô Môn Thermoelectricity Complex - its biggest in the Mekong Delta.

The Ô Môn Thermoelectricity Plant Project is invested by the EVN. In Stage 1, two turbine groups 300 MW each are built and put into operation, producing an average annual output of 3.6 billion kWh at  a total cost of VND 6,666 billion (equivalent to US$ 555 million), 85% of which comes from the Japanese Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) in preferential ODA loans of the Japanese Government.
