VGP – Japan will donate an additional 500,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccine to Viet Nam, raising the total number to 4.58 million, according to Japanese Foreign Minister Motegi Toshimitsu.

The Japanese Embassy in Viet Nam said the additional vaccine doses will be delivered to Viet Nam after preparatory work is finalized.

So far, Japan is one of the biggest vaccine donors for Viet Nam, only after the U.S. with 9.5 million via the COVAX Facility.

Earlier, in September, Viet Nam received 300 vaccine refrigerators funded by Japan and procured through UNICEF.

As of mid-October 15, the country had injected over 59.8 million doses of vaccines. Up to 57.2% of adult population has been partially vaccinated and 23.8% of eligible population has been fully vaccinated./.
