The policy will be applied to short-term business travellers, managers, diplomats, and high-skilled engineers for long-term residence. The Japanese side revealed that flights will be resumed at the end of this month.

FM Motegi Toshimitsu added that the ministry will continue coordinating with Viet Nam and Thailand via diplomatic channels to implement this program as soon as possible and make announcement immediately when reaching agreements.

He added that Viet Nam will be as one of the first four nations that his country relaxes travelling restrictions with, besides Australia, New Zealand, and Thailand, because of Viet Nam’s good containment of the COVID-19 and the big travelling demand between Viet Nam and Japan.

However, all citizens of the two Southeast Asian countries would be quarantined for 14 days at home or a designated location.

Thailand and Viet Nam are among the countries least affected by the coronavirus in Asia, with the total number of cases at about 3,000 for Thailand and over 300 for Viet Nam.  The number of new cases has dropped to the single digit per day in the past week./.
