At the July 3 meeting with Deputy PM Trương Vĩnh Trọng and his entourage, Japanese PM Shinzo Abe expressed his desire to expand bilateral ties in various fields and develop the Japan-Việt Nam strategic partnership as agreed by leaders of the two countries during PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng's Japan tour in October 2006. PM Abe attached great importance to judicial activities and reforms in the cause of national construction, pledging to support Việt Nam's judicial reform. He also informed that Japan is considering three large-scale projects: trans-Việt Nam express railway, trans-Việt Nam highway, and Hòa Lạc Hi-tech Park.

Deputy PM Trương Vĩnh Trọng was delighted with the progress of the Việt Nam-Japan relationship and thanked Japan's fruitful assistance to Việt Nam. The Deputy PM emphasized that Việt Nam is doing its utmost in renovating itself, especially judicial activities, to integrate deeper into the international community.

The Vietnamese officials also met with Vice President of the House of Councilors Imaizumi Akira, Vice Speaker of the House of Representatives Yokomichi Takahiro, Foreign Minister Taro Aso and Justice Minister Nagase Jinen. The Japanese senior officials showed their willingness to share Việt Nam their experience in judicial reforms and training judiciary staff. The delegation had working sessions with Japan's Supreme Court, Supreme Procuracy, General Police Bureau, Japan's International Cooperation Agency (JICA), and some Japanese experts in judicial branch.
