Italian top insurer opens rep. office in VN

VGP - The Vietnamese Ministry of Finance has licensed Italy’s biggest insurance group Assicurazioni Generali S.p.A to open its representative office in Việt Nam.

August 28, 2009 6:19 PM GMT+7

It is expected that, after the official presence of Generali, a leading finance and insurance service provider in the world, other big insurers will do business in the Vietnamese market.

Earlier, the group has made some contributions to the development of Việt Nam’s insurance sector through its ties with the Việt Nam Insurance Group.

Established in 1831, Generali currently has 1,130 insurers and 126 real estate and finance firms operating in 40 countries. In 2007, it was ranked the world’s biggest firm in terms of revenue by Fortune.

In Asia, Generali has branches in Hong Kong and Japan, and representative offices in Thailand, China, India and Việt Nam.
