The financial assistance project, to be implemented in 2010, is part of a cooperative framework between the Toscana economic promotion agency and the Việt Nam Leather and Footwear Association (LEFASO).

Up to 90% of the financial assistance will come from funds of the European Commission.

According to Toscana senior officials, Việt Nam is an ideal venue for the region’s firms, especially its shoe makers which are well-known in the world.

They said the strong development of the country’s garment, textile, leather, footwear and fashion industries, and its low labor costs and large customer force are attracting many investors.

A Vietnamese business delegation is expected to visit Toscana in March next year.
