Int’l furniture, home décor fair held

VGP – The Viet Nam International Furniture and Home Accessories Fair (VIFA-EXPO) is taking place at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Centre (SECC) in Ho Chi Minh City.

March 09, 2018 4:48 PM GMT+7

The expo is featuring about 1,980 booths run by furniture and home décor companies throughout Viet Nam, international furniture, home décor and handicraft manufacturers and traders.

Among the foreign firms were many well-known timber, furniture, home décor and handicraft producers and traders from China, Russia, the United States, Canada, Australia, Italy, Ireland and the Republic of Korea, and others.

Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Ha Cong Tuan said at the expo's opening ceremony, global demand for wood furniture will rise 3.5% this year, adding that Viet Nam's timber and wood-based products make up 6% of the global market share.

Viet Nam earned nearly 1.5 billion USD from exporting wood and woodwork products in the first two months of this year, up 38.3% on-year, according to the agriculture ministry.

The event was held by the city’s Department of Industry and Trade and the Handicraft and Wood Industry Association of HCM City (HAWA).

The event runs until March 10.
