Int’l dialogue opened, focusing on anticorruption in education

VGP - Representatives from many countries, international organizations and donors, and Vietnamese relevant agencies participated in the 7th dialogue on preventing and fighting against corruption in education on May 28 in Hà Nội.

At the dialogue, held by the Government Inspectorate, the Central Steering Committee on Preventing and Fighting against Corruption, and the Swedish Embassy, Deputy Minister of Education and Training Trần Quang Quý said that his Ministry has implemented various campaigns, movements, models and regulations on anti-corruption.

The participants also spent a lot of time on analyzing the real situations and reasons of corruption and prodigality in educational domain; sharing experience and initiatives for anti-corruption.

At the dialogue, a representative from the United Nations Development Program stressed that corruption is one of barriers to the development and education, a sector vulnerable to corrupt acts.

Swedish Ambassador to Việt Nam Rolff Bergman said corruption in education is a threat to sustainable development.

The World Bank representative highlighted the necessity of encouraging the active participation of residents and social organizations in the fight against corruption.

Việt Nam currently has nearly 40,000 educational establishments, ranging with over 1 million educators, lecturers and teachers, and 23 million students and pupils.
