International nuclear power exhibition held in Hà Nội

VGP - An international nuclear power exhibition themed “Looking to the Ninh Thuận Nuclear Power Project” is taking place in Hà Nội from May 27-29 with the participation of the world’s leading nuclear technology companies from Japan, Russia, France, the US, China, Canada and Bulgaria.

The 4th international nuclear power exhibition, hosted by the Ministry of Science and Technology, and the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, introduced advanced nuclear power technologies in the world, experience of building nuclear power plants, and capacity international organizations in supporting and consulting nuclear power projects.

The exhibition also displayed Việt Nam’s preparations for the construction of its first nuclear power plants, Ninh Thuận 1 and Ninh Thuận 2, with the total capacity of 4,000 MW.

Ninh Thuận 1 will be groundbroken in 2014 and become partially operational in 2020.

According to the forecast from the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Việt Nam’s demand for electricity will increase to 562 billion kWh in 2030, of which 293 billion kWh will be produced from primary energy sources.
