Industrial production index up 6.5% in seven months

VGP – The industrial production index in July was estimated to rise 8.1% against the same period last year, according to the General Statistics Office.

In the first seven months of the year, the industrial production index saw a year-on-year increase 6.5% and lower than the increase of 7.2% of the same period last year and higher than the figure recorded in the first half of this year of 6.3%.

The manufacturing and processing sector picked up 10.6%, electricity production and distribution up 9%, water and waste supply and treatment up 7.2% while mining declined 7.5%.

Localities witnessing sharp increases in the industrial production indexes included Thai Nguyen up 21%, Hai Phong up 20.5%, Bac Ninh up 13%, Da Nang up 10.6%, Hai Duong up 9.9%, Ho Chi Minh City up 7.5%, Ha Noi up 6.1% and Vinh Phuc up 5.2%.
