India continues VN’s faithful, long-term partner

At the press conference after the meeting, Deputy PM Minh said that the two sides effectively and practically exchanged and proposed measures to boost Viet Nam-India Comprehensive Strategic Partnership more intensively across all fields.
He supposed that the maintenance of high-ranking delegation exchanges have manifested high political trust.
The two sides agreed to strengthen delegation exchanges at all levels and accelerate current dialogue mechanisms as well as highly spoke of the effective implementation of the Action Plan in the 2017-2020 phase.
They consented that defense and security cooperation is the crucial pillar in the bilateral relationship, applauding the maintenance of defense cooperation mechanisms.
Viet Nam highly valued the effective support from India over the recent years, said Mr. Minh.
The two diplomats pledged to boost bilateral trade, regarding it as the key cooperative sector in the upcoming time. The two sides will tackle obstacles and set up specific measures to enhance trade ties at the fourth meeting of the India-Viet Nam Joint Sub-Commission on Trade, which will be organized in the fourth quarter of 2018.
The host and the guest assented to expand cooperation in education and training, science and technology, culture, tourism and people-to-people exchanges.
They committed to continuing mutual and close support at multi-lateral forums, especially within the framework of the United Nations, agreeing to promote close coordination in realizing commitments of the Delhi Declaration of the ASEAN-India Commemorative Summit.
The two sides discussed recent happenings in the East Sea and measures to maintain peace, stability, safety and security of navigation and aviation as well as measures to address disputes in the East Sea through peaceful measures, fully respecting diplomatic and legal processes in line with international law and the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea 1982.
They stressed the necessity to fully realize the Declaration on Conduct of the Parties in the East Sea (DOC) and soon finalize the building of a Code of Conduct in the East Sea (COC).
For her side, Ms. Sushma Swaraj expressed her delight on the positive developments in the two nations’ relationship in all areas, especially when the defense-security cooperation has become one of the crucial pillars in the bilateral relationship.
She said that the two sides agreed to organize a meeting to discuss maritime security policy in 2018.
She expressed her hope that Viet Nam-India relations will continue thriving to bring benefits for both and make contributions to peace and stability in the region.
