The 210-MW A Vương power plant, located in the A Vương and Bung Rivers in the two districts of Tây Giang and Đông Giang, will produce an annual output of 815 million kWh.

It is expected to help reduce droughts, regulate floods, minimize seawater encroachment and create thousands of jobs for local people.

The project was inaugurated this morning after over 4 years of construction.

The same day, the ground-breaking ceremony of Thạnh Mỹ Cement Plant was launched in the mountainous district of Nam Giang.

The mill has an annual capacity of 2 million tons. Invested by the Xuân Thành Investment and Development Joint Stock Corporation with the total capital of nearly VND 4 trillion, the plant will be completed within two years.

A ceremony to block the flow of the Bung River was also organized today in Đông Giang and Nam Giang Districts in preparation for the construction of the Sông Bung 4A hydropower plant with the capacity of 45MW and the investment of VND 1.2 trillion. The plant is scheduled to become operational in 2012.
