Hundreds of Vietnamese citizens safely repatriated from Japan

VGP – An additional 350 Vietnamese citizens were brought home safely from Japan on July 15 thanks to the coordination between Vietnamese authorities, representative agencies and national flag carrier Viet Nam Airlines (VNA), and Japanese authorities.

July 16, 2020 11:27 AM GMT+7

The passengers onboard the VNA flight included children under 18, the elderly, pregnant women, people with sickness, workers with expired visas and labor contracts, students without residence due to the closure of dormitories, and other especially disadvantaged cases.

The Vietnamese embassy in Japan sent its officials to directly the citizens at the airport.

With the aim of ensuring citizens’ health and prevent the spread of the pandemic, the airline implemented security, safety and epidemiological measures throughout the flight.

Right upon their landing at Ha Noi’s Noi Bai International Airport, all the passengers and the crew members were medically checked and put under quarantine in line with current regulations.

In accordance with the Prime Minister’s directions, more flights will be conducted in the near future to bring citizens stranded overseas to the homeland, taking into account the citizens’ needs and domestic quarantine capacity.

This is the 42nd repatriation flight arranged since April 24, bringing home 11,696 Vietnamese citizens stranded abroad due to COVID-19.

As of July 16, Viet Nam has gone 91 days without new community-transmitted case of COVID-19 and 353 out of the total 381 patients have been cleared of the virus, according to the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control./.
