Hue: Tourism industry converted into spearhead economy
VGP – The central city of Hue welcomed a record number of 3.8 million guests in 2017, the most successful year over the past five-year period, said former Director of Hue Tourism Department Le Huu Minh.

Experts attributed the success to the development of new products including the launching of the Hue Imperial Citadel night tours, Pham Ngu Lao, Chu Van An, Vo Thi Sau walking streets.
In addition, the city also cooperated with other localities (Quang Nam, Da Nang, Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Ha Noi, HCMC, and Lam Dong) and businesses (Viet Nam Airlines, Railway, Post, and Vietravel) to raise the number of guests.
The city is developing two brand names including “Hue – the city of festivals and gastronomy” and “Hue – the city of light and living.”
In early 2018, the city welcomed 247,400 guests, representing a year-on-year growth of 7.7%.
Recently, on January 26, at the ASEAN Tourism Forum (ATF) 2018 in Chiang Mai (Thailand), the city claimed two trophies namely "ASEAN Clean Tourist City" and "ASEAN Green Hotel "(for Pilgrimage Village Boutique Resort and Spa) on January 26.
In 2018, the city targets to welcome 4-4.2 million guests and earn VND 4-4.2 trillion of turnover.
To fulfill the goal, the city will successfully host the 10th Hue festival scheduled from April 27 to May 2./.
