The Hòn La Port in the Hòn La Economic Zone, Quảng Bình Province, Central Việt Nam
According to the master plan, the EZ consists of six coastal communes of Quảng Trạch District, covering 10,000 ha, including 1,100 ha of islands and water areas, and 3,200 ha for functional quarters.

Its population is predicted to reach 51,000 in 2015 and 67,000 in 2020 from the current 42,000.

The multi-sectoral EZ will become a modern economic center of the province, playing the role of a driving force for attracting investments and boosting up socio-economic development in other regions.

The Government chief noted that the master plan must pay attention to sustainable socio-economic development and poverty reduction.

Earlier, in his Decision 1545/QĐ-TTg dated August 27, 2008, the PM approved the development plan for Hòn La, focusing on the development of seaports, services, tourism, and sea-borne economic industries.

He required that all mechanisms and policies applied in Hòn La must be simple, preferential and encouraging, in favor of business and production activities here.
