Hội An to host VN-Japan Cultural Exchange Festival in mid-August

VGP – The Days for Việt Nam-Japan Cultural Exchange will take place in the ancient town of Hội An on August 15-16.

August 11, 2008 3:40 PM GMT+7

The Japanese Bridge in Hội An – a vivid symbol for Việt Nam-Japan cultural exchanges.

The 6th cultural event of its kind is jointly held by the People’s Committee of Hội An City, Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), and Japan’s Sakai City, as part of the 35th years of diplomatic establishment between Việt Nam and Japan.

Initially organized in 2003, the event is annually held with an aspiration to cement and deepen the bilateral friendship, advertise Hội An the World’s Cultural Heritage, and attract domestic and international tourists, especially those from Japan.

The Organizing Board pleasantly revealed that, during the festival, tourists could witness many cultural specialties of both Việt Nam and Japan, such as making traditional cakes and food, producing swallow’s thread, performing Japanese tea rituals, making lanterns, calligraphy, and Japanese art of paper folding Origami.

In addition, visitors can directly get involved in many Vietnamese and Japanese folk games together with local people and Japanese friends.

Last but not least, this year festival also consists of substantial activities like community medical check-up and seminars on environment protection.
