Highlights of Viet Nam Diplomacy In 2011-2021 Period
VGP - Viet Nam has successfully improved the effectiveness of foreign affairs and international integration, contributing to create a peaceful and stable environment for national development and prestige.
1. Bilateral diplomacy
The framework of strategic partnership has been expanded with a focus on 30 countries, including all 5 permanent members of the UN Security Council, all members of the G7 and 17 countries of the G20.
2. Multilateral diplomacy
Viet Nam actively participated in important regional and international forums such as organizing the APEC Viet Nam 2017.
Organizing the World Economic Forum Conference on ASEAN 2018.
Chairing the ASEAN 2020.
Becoming a Non-Permanent Member of the UN Security Council for the term 2020-2021.
Hosting the DPRK-USA Hanoi Summit.
3. Overall strategy for integration 2020 and vision 2030
Actively promote negotiation, signing, ratification and effective implementation of 15 FTAs with international partners.
4. Protection of national sovereignty
Actively negotiate to settle disputes and different on land, sea and islands borders, in accordance with international law.
Promote the negotiation process of the Code of Conduct in the South China Sea between ASEAN and China.
Submitted 3 notes to the UN related to complicated developments in the East Sea.
5. A comprehensive citizen protection
Repatriate more than 75,000 Vietnamese citizens from 50 countries and territories returning home during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Provide medical equipment to prevent Covid-19 for Vietnamese communities in other countries./.
