Health-population target program in 2016-2020 ratified

VGP – The PM has approved health-population target program in the 2016-2020 period, which will be realized at provinces and cities nationwide with the expenditure of VND19,380 billion.

The program heads to actively prevent diseases, soon discover and limit the occurrence of large diseases and reduce fatalities of dangerous infectious diseases and uncover the rate of non-communicable and school-age diseases to ensure the community’s health.

It aims to increase management capacity, control food safety, ensure blood supply and reduce HIV/AIDS transmissions in the community to decrease effects of HIV/AIDS on socio-economic development.

The program also maintains replacement fertility, improves nutrition, increases the quality of population and health care for the elderly and strengthens combined army medicine in protecting heath for people living at border areas, seas and islands and national security and defense areas.

The program includes eight projects covering the prevention and control of dangerous communicable diseases and non-communicable diseases, vaccination expansion, population and development, food safety, HIV/AIDS prevention, m blood safety and prevention of some hematologic diseases, combined army medicine and supervision, inspection and evaluation of the implementation of health and communications programs.
